One of the Self Determination group topics was to talk about differences and the importance of friendships. Several people have experienced a quarantine as a result of COVID-19. They shared what it was like while being stuck at home and things that helped them stay connected.
One person shared that it felt like she was a ‘caged animal’ during her quarantine. She is very social, loves to try new things with friends and is involved in her community. While she was able to Facetime with her friends and family, she shared that she was still very sad and lonely. She shared how grateful she is for her family and the friendships she has made. She reminded us never to take for granted the people in our lives, because when you are stuck at home without them, it’s very difficult.
Another person shared that she had an enormous sense of boredom while she was on quarantine. She didn’t like that she couldn’t go to work. She said she watched a lot of movies but most of the time felt like she was going stir crazy. She shared the quarantine experience for her made her thankful for her job and being able to do things that made her feel important.
